STATEMENT: CAP congratulates Taryn Mackenzie Williams on his confirmation as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Disability Employment Policy
Washington, DC – Yesterday the United States Senate confirmed that Taryn Mackenzie Williams would serve as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Disability Employment Policy. For the past two years, Williams has served as the Executive Director of the Poverty-to-Prosperity program at the Center for American Progress. Following its confirmation, Mara rudman, executive vice president for policy at CAP, made the following statement:
Taryn joined the CAP because she has an endless curiosity for research, policy and practice. What sets her apart is her ability to teach and her strength as a manager. It leaves a lasting impact on CAP, including through our Disability Justice Initiative and our Poverty to Prosperity agenda. His passion for the rights of people with disabilities has helped change expectations and stereotypes, especially around the employment of people with disabilities. Although she will be missed at CAP, we are delighted that she brings her continued leadership and in-depth knowledge of disability justice and economic mobility to the Ministry of Labor. Congratulations Taryn!
