Project Management Assistant Professor/Lecturer job at UNIVERSITY OF NORTHUMBRIA

This position is fixed term for 9 months and based at Northumbria University Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Please note that immigration sponsorship and relocation costs will not be provided.

Our Amsterdam campus is fully integrated with Northumbria University, which means that Amsterdam-based scholars are also full members of the Department of Architecture and Built Environment (ABE) in the UK, and will be expected to therefore contribute to our departmental objectives, for example in teaching and research. To support the future growth of our Amsterdam campus and our ABE department, we are looking for outstanding candidates who can contribute to teaching and research in the field of project management. The University is currently aiming to recruit part-time staff (0.4 FTE), for the 2nd and 3rd semesters of the current academic year (i.e. specifically to teach from January to September 2023). Nominations will be considered at the Lecturer (6th year) or Assistant Professor (7th year) levels depending on their background.

The appointee(s) will contribute to the delivery of our project management modules and support the accreditation of the program by the Dutch authority. You will undertake research and scholarship activities contributing to the Faculty’s research profile and the development of its forthcoming Research Excellence Framework submission, as well as consultancy, corporate and other revenue-generating activities. income. Together with the team based in Newcastle and Amsterdam, you will help design, plan, teach and tutor modules of a range of modules including Semester 2 and Semester 3 modules: Project Feasibility & Economics; Project organizations and information management; Research methods; Thesis. And potentially in the future, also the modules of semester 1: Project Program & Portfolio Management; Project change, risk and opportunity management; people in project management

You must have excellent interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to teach effectively on a range of project management topics using a variety of technologies and student learning approaches. You should have (or be exceptionally close to completing) a PhD or equivalent in a field relevant to the position, ideally combined with a high quality publication record and have clear plans to enhance your research through additional other publications, funding offers and knowledge exchange. Possession of a university teaching qualification such as Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (UK) or Basis Kwalificatie Onderwijs (Netherlands) or preparation to acquire this qualification within a reasonable time is essential.

The successful candidate(s) will gain the dual benefit of being part of a small, dynamic team at our Amsterdam campus, while being embedded in the larger Architecture and Built Environment (ABE) department. The appointment will initially be for a period of 9 months (January-September 2023). At the end of this, there may be the prospect of continuing into the 23/24 academic year, subject to satisfactory performance and continued delivery of the MSc Project Management on the Amsterdam campus. The nature of the post is such that the post holder is expected to work and attend the University of Amsterdam campus for the hours reasonably necessary for the effective performance of the duties of the post. The indicative salary is €3,959 to €5,419 (Grade 6) or €5,486 to €6,232 (Grade 7) per month (prorated), excluding 8% holiday pay but including travel and of foresight.
