Policy Spotlight: One-on-one with Admiral Rachel Levine, HHS Assistant Secretary for Health



On Friday, June 24, you are invited to join Health Affairs Chief Editor Alain Weil for the next installment in our Policy Spotlight series, featuring Admiral Rachel L. Levine, Assistant Secretary for Health at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). At HHS, Adm. Levine oversees the department’s major public health offices and programs, a number of presidential and secretariat advisory committees, ten regional health offices across the country, and the Office of the Surgeon General and the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, a of the eight uniformed services.

As a pediatrician before joining HHS, Adm. Levine focused on the intersection of mental and physical health, treating children, adolescents, and young adults. She served as a professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at Penn State College of Medicine, and was previously vice chair of clinical affairs for the department of pediatrics and chief of the division of adolescent medicine and eating disorders at Penn State. Hershey Medical Center. She served as both Secretary of Health and Surgeon General for Pennsylvania.
