Growing Demand for AI and ML, Data Science in Business Management Courses

Warangal: The demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) courses and other computer science programs is growing in business management studies. Bearing this in mind, many universities are offering courses in AI and ML, business analytics and data science, according to the Dean of the School of Business, Professor Chetan Bajaj, SR University, Warangal.
Dr. Chetan Bajaj, who holds a Ph.D. from IIM Bangalore and an M.Com from Delhi School of Economics, has taught at prestigious business schools including MDI Gurgaon, IIM-K, University of ‘Antwerp, IIM-R, etc. He served as Dean/Director in top business schools like ISB&M, Jain University and Sharda University before joining SR University.
“With the acceleration of digitalization through artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), digital sales are growing rapidly and companies have focused their technology investments on products and services based on the cloud. From online grocery stores and EdTech sites to online pharmacies and OTT players, the post-COVID-19 world looks very different through the lens of AI and ML,” he said.Telangna today‘.
“Even technologies like Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) have proliferated among e-commerce platforms to provide better customer experience. With growing demand for AI and ML technologies, we have decided to offer a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in AI and ML starting this academic year,” he said, adding that they focus on practical and student-centered approach and encouraging students to become entrepreneurs and added that they also offer courses in Data Science, Business Analytics, Logistics and Supply Chain, Bank Insurance and BBA Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Business Development in addition to the Integrated MBA (BBA -MBA).
“Five business school students had already incubated their ideas with the help of SRiX, which is the technology business incubator, on campus. Explaining the importance of AI and ML, he said that the impact of the latest technology programs like AI and ML are prominent among business leaders and managers.
“We are against the method of learning by rote memorization. We follow the Harvard Business School model and try to enhance practical knowledge, critical thinking and leadership qualities,” Dr. Bajaj added. “We are in the new era that we can call Management Education 4.0 (ME 4.0) and which is in phase with the phenomenon of Industry 4.0. This new phase in management education is the result of distinct phases in the history of management education over the past two centuries.
Management education must shift the emphasis from the transmission of information to the development of know-how and skills. Faculty must evolve from knowledge professionals to coaches and facilitators. This will help reconnect academic research and management practices in the new ME 4.0 paradigm as well as new forms of engagement between academia and industry,” said School of Business Assistant Professor Dr. Satish Raju Gaddam.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Suman Naredla said three ideas from SR University fetched a total of Rs 41 lakhs in the year 2021-22. They were incubated at our SRiX, on-campus incubation center, he said.
