Assistant Secretary Bryan Newland #NCAIECWS2022
Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Bryan Newland discusses the National Congress of American Indians on February 14, 2022. Newland oversees the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Indian Bureau of Educationthe two agencies Interior Department. He is a citizen of the Indian community of Bay Mills, of which he was formerly president. Newland spoke at the winter session of the NCAI executive council, which was held virtually due to COVID-19[female[feminine. He answered questions from participants following his remarks. “It has been an intense and stimulating year” Newland said of his work in the administration of President Joe Biden. Serving as a discussion moderator is Governor Stephen Roe Lewis from Gila River Indian Community. He is the recently elected secretary of the NCAI.
