Description of the school and the department
Xi’an Jiaotong University-Liverpool International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) is growing in size and influence in pursuit of its vision of being a leading international business school. The school is based on strong principles of internationalism, innovation, inspiration and integrity, which together ensure that we have a positive impact on society through our teaching, research and business engagement. . In this pursuit, IBSS became the youngest business school to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 2016, and again the youngest school to receive EQUIS accreditation in 2018. Obtaining joint AMBA and BGA accreditation in 2020, IBSS became the 103rd triple-accredited business school in the world.
The five departments of IBSS are Accounting, Economics, Finance, Smart Operations and Marketing, and Strategic Management and Organizations with over 130 faculty members and over 5,000 students over 60 different countries. IBSS offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, doctoral and executive education programs in all major business disciplines.
The IOM department, which encompasses the areas of operations management, information management, marketing and project management, is on the way to becoming an independent academic unit with the start of the year. academic 2020/21, following the split of the original Department of Management. At present, the IOM department has a strong team of 31 academic staff, publishing in leading journals, such as Journal of Operations Management (UTD), MIS Quarterly (UTD), Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science (ABS 4 *), British Journal of Management (ABS 4), European Journal of Operational Research (ABS 4), Journal of Service Research (ABS 4), International Journal of Information Management (ABDC A *) , International Journal of Production Economics (ABDC A *) and among others. Members of the department teach a large number of undergraduate students in Marketing, Business Administration, Information Management, and Information System programs, as well as postgraduate students enrolled in the MSc Operations and Supply Chain Management, MSc Project Management, as well as MSc Management or IMBA.
Roles and responsibilities:
Applications are invited for operations and supply chain management, information management, marketing and project management at XJTLU’s IBSS. XJTLU is a research-led university. In this context, although the IBSS faculty workload is typically shared between teaching, research and service, early career faculty members should devote the majority of their time to research. , followed by education, then service. Research activities include the publication of research articles, participation in international conferences and applications for research funding. Research performance at school is benchmarked against lists of internationally recognized quality journals, such as the Academic Journal Guide (UK) – aka the ABS List – and the ABDC List (Australia). The target levels on these lists are ABS3 / ABDC-A or higher.
The successful candidate will be expected to give lectures and tutorials during all years of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs; supervise undergraduate, master’s and possibly doctoral theses.
Areas of responsibility: (1) Operations management, supply chain management, logistics management and related areas; (2) Information management, information system and related fields; (3) Marketing management; and (4) Project management.
Essential qualifications / experience
Successful candidates for the post of Assistant / Associate Professor must have:
- A doctorate in a related field,
- Teaching experience in higher education,
- A proven record of academic publications in good journals, or alternatively, for early career academics, a strong pipeline of promising research.
Successful applicants for higher academic ranks must also show:
- An important file of high quality academic publications,
- A number of external research grants,
- Experience in doctoral supervision.

- Experience in program design and program development,
- Commitment with the professional community,
- Adaptability to work in a collegial environment.
